Or is it the other way around?
Anyways, did you know that from 1996-2001 he was arrested several times on drug-related charges?
Now, Robert Downey Jr was the highest paid actor in the world earning a whopping $80 million from June 2014-June 2015 alone.
I bet you also know this woman
J.K. Rowling the author of the best-selling book series in history, Harry Potter.
Did you know that before all the fame and glamor, at one point in her life she was diagnosed with clinical depression and contemplated suicide?
Today, she is the first person to become a U.S. dollar billionaire by writing books.
Just how in the world they have done all this stuff after all the life-shattering challenges they encountered?
I know. I know. If you’ve been reading my blogs, I said that Content Marketing is one of the “big 5” in online digital marketing.
So, what is content marketing has to do with all this?
You see, content marketing has existed long before the internet is a thing.
Content marketing is all about telling a compelling story. All of us are a fan of the great story, isn’t’ it?
Every interesting story we hear, we share. Every great story we witness, we tell. Storytelling is part of our DNA. We can’t just resist telling a story to our family, friends and loved ones.
This has been the case with Robert Downey Jr. and J.K. Rowling.
With Robert, given the rich foundation and storytelling of marvel comics to the world, his first stint as Iron Man earned a whopping estimated $600 million worldwide. Which also paved the way to Iron Man 2&3, The Avengers, and all of his appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With J.K. Rowling, her great storytelling paved the way to countless awards in her books, history setting sales of her books, 8 harry potter films, and now the new spinoff of the Harry Potter series.
This is the best example of what is content marketing and how important is it to market a product in a global setting.
Because of this rich content, they were able to sell billions of dollars just for merchandise related to those books.
And by merchandise I mean: toys, t-shirts, mugs, and different figures.
Billions of dollars just because of content marketing.
That is also the reason why it’s an important factor in any online digital marketing strategy.
What is Content Marketing in terms of definition?
Wikipedia gave a vague definition of content marketing, and according to them, it’s a form of marketing focused on creating, publishing and distributing content for a targeted audience online.
Forbes, on the other hand, defined content marketing as the technique of creating and distributing valuable, relevant and consistent content to attract and acquire a clearly defined audience.
Forbes definition is spot on and straightforward.
For me, I would like to define content marketing as the creation of clever, informative, inspiring and spoon feeding content to your target audience.
Either of these definitions above says the same thing: A creation of valuable content to your target audience.
Content Marketing has never been this important, thanks to technology, to every industry.
It is a very important digital marketing strategy, greatly helps your SEO and SEM strategies. Improves conversions too.
It’s also a great way to start your online digital marketing strategy.

Open your social media accounts now, check how many people are sharing content. May it be videos, articles, blogs or whatever it is they find useful and good, they share it.
Nas Daily, a vlog page on Facebook, is so famous that all of its vlogs is getting hundreds of thousands of views each and all have thousands of shares also. He uploads a 1-minute video every day and gets same results every day. He made a living out of it.
Because of the interesting and inspiring content, he is doing, people are doing the marketing for him.
Content Marketing helps build your brand, big time.
Thru content marketing, your target audience will see how expert are you and how much big of a help they can get from you.
It’ll establish brand awareness and loyalty.

Now that you are aware of what is content marketing and its importance, let me give you my two cents in doing a good content marketing strategy.
Let’s say you are going to create a content about proper cancer medication, here’s what you need to create a compelling content:
Your audience does not want a content that is vague, unoriginal and misleading. Respect your audience, give them actual facts about cancer medication.
If your cancer medication is for lung cancer, then target audience with lung cancer. Again, people do not want misleading contents. How are they going to share it if it’s misleading?
As much as we hate misleading content, we also hate contents that are too deep. We are finding proper cancer medication, don’t make us research what that medication even mean. Put it there in simpler terms, terms that anyone will understand. We are not all from the medical field.
Give a lot of facts about cancer medication but keep it also short. The attention span of our generation is really really small, if you want to establish authority and expertise over this matter then make their short span worthwhile.
Know your audience. Find what they want and how they want it. If you are going to publish it on Facebook, as much as possible publish it in video format
This is very important, as much as possible make your content FREE. Or at least make a free version of it.
Just remember that your content is replaceable. Someone will make a better version of it, worse is someone will copy it and market it better than you.
BUT a compelling content will make your audience come back for more, it’ll offer limitless opportunities. You just got to create more compelling content.
Content Marketing, just like any other digital marketing strategy, is a long-term strategy. Publishing a single compelling content will not automatically establish yourself as an expert.
